What is Reiki?
The dictionary definition states:
rei·ki
/ˈrākē/
noun
1. a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
What it has left out is the fact that there’s no need for physical touch. In all actuality, when having a face to face reiki session, the hands hover over the body rather than touch. It may feel as though the Reiki practitioner or Reiki master is touching because the client is feeling the pressure of the light energy flowing through them to remove the ailments. Due to the work of light energy, distance healing is capable.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transferred. We all learned this law and have put it into the back of our minds, not realizing it is something very useful. Imagine an empty vessel filled with darkness. This will represent the alimentary or negative energy. Now, picture a person who is filled with light. As they transfer light into the empty vessel, the darkness decreases and is put back into the Earth. This process occurs until the darkness is replaced by light.
Reiki is a sacred practice, a mindful practice, an energetic practice, and is beautiful!
